I was told I’d be first.
Quick. Clean. In and out.
So naturally… I didn’t plug in my laptop.
Right before we start, the plan changes.
They’re going to interview Sharon Stone first.
No problem.
Except… it’s Sharon Stone.
So the interview goes on. And on. And on.
Meanwhile, I’m sitting there watching my battery like it’s a countdown clock.
20%… 12%… 7%…
I can’t move.
They could call me at any second.
5%.
No choice.
I sprint upstairs, grab the charger, sprint back, and slide into my seat just as they call my name.
Perfect timing.
Or so I thought.
Kelly gives this incredible introduction.
She asks the first question…
And I disappear.
She can’t see me. Can’t hear me.
I can see and hear everything.
Instant panic.
I drop, reconnect, and get back in.
She asks again. I answer.
Okay, we’re good.
Second question… same thing.
Third question… again.
At this point, I’m not even thinking about the interview.
I’m just trying to stay connected long enough to get a sentence out.
Meanwhile, Kelly is an absolute pro the entire time.
“Wait, I really want to hear this answer.”
We somehow make it to the end.
Interview done.
And to be honest, I have no idea what actually aired… because somewhere around question two, I went into full survival mode.
But we got through it.
The part people don’t see is that moments like this are rarely perfect.
The opportunities might look polished on the outside, but behind the scenes, they’re unpredictable, fast-moving, and sometimes completely out of your control.
You just have to stay in it and find a way through.
Next time, though…
I’m plugging in the laptop.
And I’m requesting to go before Sharon Stone.
