Nate McMillan

Chapter I | The Leadership of Nate McMillan
Nate McMillan has always represented steadiness.

As a player for the Seattle SuperSonics, he brought discipline, intelligence, and a quiet intensity that made him one of the most respected figures in the game.

He wasn’t the loudest voice.

He didn’t need to be.

His presence was felt in how he led, how he competed, and how he carried himself every day.

That same character followed him into coaching, where he continued to shape teams through trust, accountability, and consistency.

In Seattle, Nate is more than a former player.

He is part of the foundation.

Chapter II | In Memory of Pete
This project began with loss.

Pete Weinmiller was someone who meant a great deal to many of us.

As Senior Vice President of Guest Relations for the Seattle SuperSonics, he helped shape the experience of everyone who walked through the doors.

But beyond his title, Pete was a mentor. A friend. Someone who took the time to connect, to guide, and to genuinely care about the people around him.

Even after the Sonics left, we stayed in touch.

Coffee. Lunch. Conversations that had nothing to do with work and everything to do with life.

When he passed, it left a space that could not be filled.

So we decided to honor him.

Led by my friend and Sonics co-worker Gabrielle Buono, we came together to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in his name.

Chapter III | Bringing It Together
To support the effort, I reached out to Nate McMillan.

There was no hesitation.

He immediately said yes.

That alone said everything.

The artwork became the centerpiece of the project.

A graphite drawing of Nate, built with the same intention that defined the reason behind it.

Not for recognition.

Not for attention.

But for something that mattered.

Once the drawing was complete, we created a limited run of 200 prints.

Each one signed and numbered.

Each one part of a collective effort to turn remembrance into action.

Chapter IV | A Shared Purpose
As the prints were released, the response reflected what Pete meant to people.

Support came from those who knew him.

From those who worked alongside him.

From those who simply understood the purpose behind the project.

One hundred percent of the proceeds were donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Every print became more than a piece of artwork.

It became a contribution.

A way to honor Pete’s life through something that could continue helping others.

Chapter V | What Endures
Some people leave a lasting impact without ever seeking it.

Pete was one of those people.

The way he treated others. The time he gave. The relationships he built.

Those things don’t disappear.

They carry forward.

This project became one way to continue that.

A collaboration rooted in respect. In gratitude. In the desire to give back in his name.

Not just remembering who Pete was.

But honoring it in a way that continues to make a difference.
